I Was a Conscientious Objector

While I was not actively involved in the movement, I registered with the Selective Service as a 1AO (non-combatant). As a result, I was sent to Ft.Sam Houston, Texas, for training as a medic. Most of us were subjected to a lot of expletives from some, however, there were others who respected our beliefs. I lost many friends in the war who were medics. I spent my time at Ft. Sam Houston as a medical instructor due to my degree. I trained the Green Berets, Screaming Eagles, et al. I prided myself in the fact that I trained troops how to save lives...not take them. I feel those that were in the anti-war movement were brave people, however, I feel those who wore the uniform as a non-combatant were brave as well.
